I’m Josh Suzuki, and woodworking has been a passion of mine for almost a decade. As a self-taught woodworker, I know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re trying to figure out where to start. What tools do you really need? What’s the best way to join two pieces of wood? How do you avoid common beginner mistakes? I’ve been there—and I want to make your woodworking journey easier and more enjoyable.

When I first started woodworking in the laundry room of my rental, I searched everywhere for the best guides, tutorials, and resources I could find. I bought books, online “plan bundles”, and watched dozens of hours of Youtube content just to figure out where to begin. The goal of this site is to be a definitive guide to woodworking basics, while also diving deeper into some of the more advanced topics and techniques that will help you expand your skills and improve your craft.

I truly believe that woodworking should be accessible to anyone who wants to learn. Woodworking means something different to every craftsman. Woodworking means something different to every craftsman—whether your goal is to build a simple birdhouse from big-box store lumber or create heirloom-quality furniture from fine hardwoods.
